STORM Prodigy
As many of you already know, Storm is known the world over as “The Bowler’s Company” and they’ve earned that name for good reason too, for their continued effort to lead the pack in world-class bowling ball innovations such as the Storm Prodigy. Out of this effort they have produced many unforgettable bowling balls that have allowed bowlers to achieve amazing results, reach new heights, and break many records in the sport of bowling.
The Storm Prodigy Bowling Ball (16lbs) is of no exception either, it features the brand new Centripetal™ core, and the R2X™ cover stock with enhanced traction mica. You'll find the Prodigy bowling among their Master line, which typically houses their highest end performance balls. Here it shares the spotlight with the Marvel, and the Marvel Pearl, legends of their time.
So what type of ball reaction can you expect
from the Storm Prodigy? You can expect to get a
ball with a greater degree of hook than what
you’ve previously got from the other Master line
balls. This ball is much cleaner through the
front, and gives you that good midlane read and
predictability. Predictability is a word that is often
associated with the Prodigy, which is one
reason why this is such a great ball for the novice bowler.
When you find yourself with too much ball on those heavy oil lane conditions, and your ball tends to hook much more than desired, or you’re getting too much backend reaction, the Prodigy is the go to ball. The lower G symmetrical core gives the Prodigy a greater read, with greater motion down the lane. This is a much more forgiving ball than what you find with an asymmetrical core ball, which tends to be a little bit more sensitive.
The Centripetal™ core found in the Prodigy gives you a lot of performance, but predictable performance, with a more gradual breakpoint, and smoother transitions down the lane. The shape of the core places a great deal of the weight directly in the center of the ball, producing a very low RG. As you know, low RG balls rev up very quickly, and react strongly on the front part of the lane. This makes this ball great for medium to heavy oil conditions, and also gives the ball a fairly high hook potential, or flare potential of around 5-6 inches.
The coverstock is where the tires meet the roads, and the aggressive coverstock on the Prodigy are just the tires you want own. The reliable R2X™ Pearl material with E.T.M. (Enhanced Traction Mica) is topped with a 4000-grit Abralon™ finish, assuring you that you’ll get that much desired clean smooth glide right through the heads, without sacrificing your midlane control game. This ball really does deliver the best of both worlds.
One more great advantage of the Prodigy is that the shape of the Centripetal™ core will produce consistency of dynamics regardless of where you drill. This gives you the freedom to drill the ball with a number of different layouts depending on your particular taste, while maintaining that much appreciated predictability from the break point to the pocket.
